Advanced Facilitation-Addressing Stalking Behaviors in Batterer Intervention Programs
Research shows that Stalking is far more prevalent within domestic violence relationships than what is captured by arrest statistics; yet, when not accounted for, can lead to greater perpetration of violence and lethality.
Upon completion of the workshop participants will be able to:
- Define and identify stalking behaviors commonly exhibited by individuals in abuser intervention programs.
- Explain the psychological and emotional motivations behind stalking behaviors.
- Recognize cognitive distortions and minimization strategies used by offenders to justify stalking.
- Utilize intervention techniques to challenge denial, increase accountability, and reduce stalking behaviors.
- Apply structured facilitation techniques to manage discussions around stalking safely and effectively.
- Incorporate stalking-specific content into existing curricula while maintaining a trauma-informed approach.

Student –
I loved how this class helped me examine the different stalking behaviors and how to intervene with an individual as well as with a group. (Extremely helpful on how to navigate in the group discussion)
Student –
The breakout groups were really helpful to get different perspectives and brainstorm the information in greater depth. I also liked the ways to navigate group discussions so I feel better prepared to deal with this topic now.

Nada’s trainings are always so interactive with activities to drive home the material. The music and movies were very helpful to identify behaviors and the breakout groups helped me get even more ideas.
