Advanced Facilitation-Addressing Stalking Behaviors in Batterer Intervention Programs
Research shows that Stalking is far more prevalent within domestic violence relationships than what is captured by arrest statistics; yet, when not accounted for, can lead to greater perpetration of violence and lethality.
Upon completion of the workshop participants will be able to:
- Define and identify stalking behaviors commonly exhibited by individuals in abuser intervention programs.
- Explain the psychological and emotional motivations behind stalking behaviors.
- Recognize cognitive distortions and minimization strategies used by offenders to justify stalking.
- Utilize intervention techniques to challenge denial, increase accountability, and reduce stalking behaviors.
- Apply structured facilitation techniques to manage discussions around stalking safely and effectively.
- Incorporate stalking-specific content into existing curricula while maintaining a trauma-informed approach.
