Gain foundational skills to facilitate anger management classes using “R.O.A.R. – Resolving Our Anger Responsibly” in this on-demand 16-hour course. Training and program content meet NAMA requirements and most local and state jurisdictions.
Because this course is built on the R.O.A.R. curriculum, a copy of the facilitator manual and participant handbook is required. If you already own the curriculum, you may purchase the training by itself. Otherwise, you can choose a bundle that includes the curriculum books at 25% off the retail price with free shipping.
This 16-hr, self-directed training covers the various State mandates needed to successfully run anger management groups. The subject matter covers important topics such as understanding of the nature of anger, anger management skills & concepts, utilization of anger log and the role of trigger thoughts, and an understanding of brain functioning, cognitive distortion, the role of communication and assertiveness, the role of empathy, the role of stress, and the role of consequences.

16-Hr Facilitator training modules cover the following:
- Basic Group Facilitation- facilitation strategies for both small and large groups, understanding brain functioning, cognitive distortions, working with Precontemplative & Action stage clients in same group, adult learning styles, reducing resistance strategies, addressing substance abuse and other co-occuring issues, differences between batterer intervention & anger management interventions, using interactive strategies to increase learning and behavior changes (5 hours)
- Intake and Assessments- understanding the Readiness to Change model, dealing with resistance, best practices for modifications with female clients, utilizing measurements for change, measuring changes in emotional intelligence skills, exit interviews (3 hours)
- Managing Anger strategies- responsible time-outs, coping strategies, anger logs, & managing triggers, conflict management; building new neural pathways, breaking patterns & cycles of anger, from rumination to reappraisal, stress management (3 hours)
- Anger Management Curriculum content- anger education-the 4 components of the Anger Scale, contrasting protective vs destructive anger; flipping your lid; emotion wheel; healthy communication; personality awareness; strengthening empathy, the role of forgiveness, attachment styles, relationship repair strategies, boundary setting (5 hours)
