A New Path Forward – Participant Handbook

A New Path Forward-Developing Healthy Relationships for Life is an innovative, highly relational, strength-based program developed for adolescents seeking how to have healthy interpersonal relationships. The materials can benefit any youth who desire to develop more self-awareness and healthier relationship behaviors, whether they are court-ordered into either anger management or domestic violence programs or just desiring improved relationships. The innovative strategies promote cooperative learning for individual growth and improved connectedness with others. The interventions and subject matter throughout the four Phases are anchored in clinically sound and research-informed approaches.

This interactive program is designed for youth in a facilitator-led program and is not designed to be used as a self-study. Various teaching methods (i.e., videos, discussions, art, etc.) are used to create a positive experience for you to explore what makes for healthier connections to others and learn more about yourself. The lessons teach important skills within a shared learning environment. The four Phases consist of thirteen lessons each, with Phase One setting the base for exploring healthier decisions for you and your relationships with others. Each phase builds upon information provided in the previous phase, so that by the end of Phase Four, you will be more confident of yourself and have healthier decision-making skills as you move toward independence and adulthood.
